Courtesy of Orca Publishing, these short e-book novels are intended for a diverse audience including ESOL students (Entry 3+) and adults who are wanting to improve their literacy skills. But they are good also for anyone who wants a high-interest quick read, and especially those who approach reading reluctantly.

Books can be accessed on almost any device, with no waiting times or loan durations. To use some of the advanced features like highlighting, notes, bookmarks etc, each user will be prompted to register with Ebook Services, the company that provides the digital platform.

With a weekly rotating collection in multiple languages this is a wonderful resource for families that supports learning at home and reading for pleasure during these unsettling times.

Each book features simplified text and audio narration in 20+ languages – ideal for emergent readers and those with limited English Proficiency. Select to play each page first in a native languages and then in English or vice versa!

The COVID-19 collection is based on information from Centre of Disease Control and the World Health Organisation. It’s important to point out that these resources do not seek to be a source of scientific information and due to the rapidly changing situation may not always be up to date. Some public health measures mentioned may also differ from those currently in place within the UK.
